===================================

We asked Tosso a few questions:

Where was your podcast recorded and with what equipment?

It was recorded in our secret lab using Ableton and midi controllers.

Which artists can you name that influence your work process and outcome?

Dima: Antonio carlos Jobim, Herbie Hancock, Philip Glass, Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, Dj Koze, Shackleton and Ripperton
Break Phreak: Monolake, Squarepusher, Fsol, Venetian Snares, Goldie, Flashbulb, Mu-ziq and Slugabed

Tell us about the idea behind the podcast. Is there a moment in it you like the most?

We treated the tracks we used not as something continuous but as fragments to be cast into the whole in order to create our own composition. Ableton allowed us all the flexibility we needed in terms of mixing, effects, the amount of tracks that can be played simultaneously and so we went as far as possible in creating the optimal mash-up as we see it.
In addition we wanted to expose the audience to some of our tracks which will be released in the British label "Apparel Music" in the near future.

Each of you has a different musical background. When and how did your path converge?

Each of you has a different musical background. When and how did your path converge?

Vinyl, CDs or MP3?

We believe in Digital 24 bit Wave format, which we believe is a good combination of what's good in digital and analogue.

Sometimes two people working together create a mixture where each person's personal taste is visible, whereas sometimes two people working together create a compound where the result is something new. What are you - a mixture or a compound?

Break Phreak: We are somewhere between a whirlpool and a whirlwind.
Dima: I think there's nothing better than two different beings bringing their own personal taste to the work table, making the production process a road filled with interesting combinations. We are definitely a compound.

What do you like to do when you're not making music together? Do you have similar hobbies outside the musical universe?

Break Phreak: I'm a photographer and also run the Israeli young and lively lomography community.
Dima: I'm interested in history and like my partner here I'm very fond of photography.

Imagine yourself ten years from now and describe what you see.

We have a Polaroid camera. We took a snapshot but it's all blurry.

Fill in the blanks: "In past life I was __________"

Dima: Joe Dassin
Break Phreak: This is my first life so I've got quite a few ahead of me…

Producers' path from anonymity to fame nowadays is either long and filled with obstacles or fast and extremely lucky. Which do you believe is the best path of the two and what tip would you give a fresh producer?

Dima: It's cool when the path is a short one but I tend to believe in hard work and persistence. A friend just sent me a link to an article telling how to get on the shortest possible path to the head of Beatport's charts. For me this was a very sad document on the verge of being inappropriate.
Break Phreak: From the anonymous side of the equation the best and only thing to do is to concentrate on one's personal style and evolve from that point on. Another option is to explore other aesthetic aspects revolving the music, such as photography, cinema, dancing and such, hoping that at some point this combination will get more and more people interested in what you're doing as an artist (and not just a "producer"). That would be a very good start.
