===================================

We asked Anna few questions:

Where and how was the set recorded?

The set was recorded at home using a XONE:92 mixer and two Technics SL1200.

Tell us about the idea behind the set. Its mysterious name makes us wonder how you picked the name.

The name was actually selected after I recorded the set. I didn want to do it the other way because then Id have been limited to music which "fits" the name making the set less spontaneous. As for the name itself – "Clap" is one of my favorite electronic sounds. The set was recorded a week before new-years eve so Lapland and Clap merged in my head. From that place I send my regards to anyone listening to the set…with loads of clap sounds of course.

When did you start djing and what (or who) got you to start in the first place?

I started djing around 2002. I enjoyed listening to Techno and staring wide-eyed at how djs work the turntables. All this time I kept "mixing" my favorite tracks in my head. Starting to dj was a natural next step. I got all the support and knowledge I needed from friends.

Have you ever considered producing music as well or are you a true believer of the art of djing? What do you think of the somewhat lesser value the industry gives "just" djs compared to djs who also produce?

Im sure EVERY dj has enough sounds and ideas running around the head to make a track. It would be very strange if thats not the case; however at the end not everyone finds the time and place to start producing. I make my own music in first gear. I know many excellent djs who never produced a single track and I still respect them just as all the others.

Up until today you played in many venues worldwide, including Berlin, the Kazantip festival and of course In Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem. In which of the places did you feel the best connection to the crowd and got the most out of yourself?

In each and every one of these places…but not every time.

Tell us how you got to know the Jerusalem underground scene. Is there a big difference between the crowd you see in your Jerusalem events and the crowd you see in your Tel-Aviv events? Did you Jerusalem based crowd remain the same since the early days until current days?

I recall getting to a Jerusalem Techno Rave by accident. Since that little accident I didn miss a single good Techno party in town (back then it didn happen too often). The Crowd in Jerusalem changes every couple of years because the local scene there is based on students who leave town when they e done studying. Some of those who moved to the Tel-Aviv area are still seen in our Tel-Aviv events, but there are still a few faces that remain constant in our Jerusalem events as well.

The "Pacotek" project has been going on for the past seven years. If you had to select just one artist from the many you brought to Israel to play in your events, or a specific moment from the many amazing ones that personally influenced you most – who/what would you select?

I think almost all guests had at least some influence but it all started with Gitterbug. It was 2003 when he first played in a Pacotek event. Back then he was very different than what was usually played here. He freshened the atmosphere, changed our musical point of view and also the crowds.

During your stay(s) in Berlin how do you get in touch with the djs that end up coming to play in Israel? What do they really think of the local scene and the Israeli crowd behind closed doors?

All the guest are invited for two gigs – one in Jerusalem and one in Tel-Aviv, so they have more than a day to see the place. It quite different than the usual "we come, we play, we leave" standard. This is why most guests are looking forward to their visits and all of them just love the local crowd.

Vinyls, CDs or MP3s? Explain.

For obvious reasons Im less fond of MP3s but when a dj makes good use of them (which means something special) – Im for it. I personally love records. As long as its possible to buy music on vinyls this is what Ill do. There are so many good vinyls that I don have and really want and just as many excellent records that I still don know of, so this romance has a few good years to it at least.

Imagine yourself ten years from now. What do you see?

I enjoy my present very much. My next ten years will be (just like any other day) years of personal development. I see myself as the same but improved around the edges.

Fill in the blanks: "In past life I was probably ____________".

I honestly think its my first life.

What do you think of the large amount of small party-lines and mini-clubs in Israel? Do you think its the best for the future of Israels nightlife scene or do you think this has to change? What are Pacoteks plans for the near future?

I think that with so many mini-clubs the crowd has a nice selection of good options for a night out. This means everyone can find something nice to do and those who don find such a thing can actually rise up and start something of their own.
In the near future we are going to host a very unorthodox Chicago based artist. We have a lot planned until July but I want to keep it as a surprise…
