===================================

We asked Uri a few questions:

Where and how was this mix recorded?

At home, using the “Virtual DJ” software.

What's the idea behind this mix? Is there any special moment in it for you?

A few months ago while I was visiting some friends we were in a car and turned on the radio. It was absolutely boring until we got to 88FM where there was this show with “world-music”. The first song we heard in that show was a Madegistan Wedding song. I really enjoyed it and that’s how the set’s name was born as well as its idea – creating an ethnic celebration while keeping the set balanced enough so it wouldn’t become an unlistenable salad.

Is there a specific moment in the set that you like the most?

I listened to the last track dozen of times…

What musical genres can we expect to find in your sets (not just this one)?

House, Techno, Ambient and modern classics

Until recently the name Uri was a synonym to minimal music. Recently you’ve been playing various house sub-genres and new-disco. What triggered this change and what do you think of minimalistic music nowadays?

For all matters regarding House and Techno I’ve never limited myself to a certain genre. At the time that (minimal) sound blossomed and I with it but the environment changed and so did I. I enjoy exploring, tasting and living other genres as well. Those who touch me stay around longer than others. I still enjoy listening to good music of the minimal genre (and there’s enough good music out there). Considering minimalism as a substance of music in general and as an attitude, my love to it still runs in my veins, especially when listening to classic music.

Vinyls, CD's or MP3's?

Digital music. If I had money then I choose vinyl.

How did you get to IU and what does it mean to you?

Guy (Freedom) got me to IU many years ago, when I was still writing in “Beats-Board” (a.k.a “The Blue Board”). Ever since then I’ve been here, experiencing and sharing the love common to all IU members to music and night-life (which goes hand in hand with music).

What drives you into recording sets with such a clear statement and idea behind them (starting with the set's headline) and with such a mental connection. Is it the same cause which got you to work with the "Romeo & Juliet" soundtrack or is it just a complex coincidence?

There is no hidden agenda there and the only thing pushing me forward is the joy I fee during the process of recording a set, the pleasure of searching for good music (discogs and decks.de rule!), sorting it, harmonically arranging it and finally recording it, which is a specifically happy part of the process due to the beer which accompanies me every time I deal with music.

While working in the "Time-Out" magazine, is there one interview you conducted which is more memorable than others?

I only have my short-term memory available, so I don’t really remember any such interview.

Imagine yourself 10 years from now and tell all us about it.

Ten years from now I’ll be able to buy beer without being asked for an ID after a shave.

"In past life I was probably a _______"?

Past life?! Give me a break…
